It's rainy today, but even though it's coming down pretty hard

I went ahead and commuted by bike.

On a customer's wheel, there was a noticeable step at the rim seam
that made a clicking sound when braking,
so I carefully filed down the step. But once I smoothed it,
the brakes started gripping just in that area.
I got permission to borrow the wheel and took it for a test ride.
The tire is mine. The filed section was shiny,
but as I applied the brakes repeatedly, it developed the same brake marks as the rest of the rim.
Gradually the catching sensation faded away.
Eventually the filed section became so inconspicuous you wouldn't notice it unless you were really looking for it,
so it ended up working perfectly.
The rain actually turned out to be handy.
Now I need to wash the wheel.
