Wheel Build Advisor

Tell it what you're building and it returns a recommended lacing pattern, spoke gauges and spoke length — the way one workshop would call it, with the reasoning linked.

The build

Length calculation supports equal counts only.

Hub & rim measurements — optional, for spoke length

Leave the main dimensions blank if you only want the build recommendation. Left and right are viewed from the rider's position; right is the drive side on a rear wheel and left is the rotor side on a disc front. Flange diameter is measured through the spoke-hole centres.

J-bend presets are published reference values (source: Velodrop). Match the exact generation and variant, then measure or verify before cutting.

Rim offset is the lateral distance from the wheel centreline to the spoke bed. Straight-pull spoke-head offset is a separate hub-specific value; it is not the flange-to-centre distance.

Read me: the recommendations encode the rules the Nomu Lab guides set out and remain a starting point. Length calculation supports equal left/right spoke counts. J-bend uses the standard geometric formula; straight-pull uses its separate angular and spoke-head-offset correction. Targets are rounded to 0.5 mm because the workshop cuts in 0.5 mm steps. Measure the actual ERD with the nipples and washers you will use, then verify one spoke before cutting a batch.
