I wanted to try making a simple sign by carving letters into a wooden board.
Since I've made signs like this before for a frame builder and a bakery,
I figured this time would turn out similarly.

↑So I picked up a suitable wooden board.

↑First comes the sketch.
It's important to have a clear image of how you want to carve it.
I might be mixing up my kanji, but let's not worry about that.

↑Carved it based on the sketch.
It looks unusually glossy, like it's been varnished,
but that's just from rinsing away the wood shavings.

↑After letting it dry, I'll paint it. The color is mahogany.

↑Now for the letter fill-in.
I went with white because I thought it would stand out better.
I might change it to black later though.

↑Gave it a light sanding and it's done.
