WH-RS81-C24-CL Customer

A customer dropped off the front wheel from an RS81.

The rim had buckled and caved in.

Wow, this is rough.
Since I didn't mark anything on the rim tape, from here on use
the black speck-like point circled in red in the image as your reference marker.

Got it mostly straightened out.

I mounted the tire and happened to install it on my friend's bike who was visiting
took it for a test ride myself first.
On the first truing pass, when I applied the brakes
I could still feel the dent a little bit, so
after truing again, it became barely noticeable.
In that state, I had the customer test ride it too, and
they said "I can't feel it at all," so I'll call it good.
Actually, there's just a tiny bit of sensation from the dent still, but
for the customer comparing it to the original condition,
that huge improvement probably makes a difference.

↑Or maybe because I polished the brake zone only at the dent location,
the braking grip might be slightly better just here,
which could be playing a role too.
If that's the case, once brake marks build up evenly like before,
it really will become undetectable.
I did tell the customer not to do anything sketchy like hiding the buckle history when selling it online.
