A customer brought in the rear wheel from a Nomu Lab Wheel No. 1 for repair.

On a downhill section at a mountain pass, the rear wheel dropped into a gap between grating covers—not into a single cover itself—and crushed the rim.

Black hub, 24H, semi-aero SB II, 46-spoke laced.

Transferring the rim over...

The tire burst and they continued riding for a bit afterward. Aside from the buckle we saw earlier, the bead hook had become damaged in spots—like the rim of a Salted Dog glass—which alone is reason enough to replace it. If the rim itself weren't dented, we could grind down the flange at the top of the brake zone and lower the brake shoe position slightly to make it still usable, but that's not ideal.

All built. In addition to the rim, we've also installed new red aluminum nipples.
