Replaced the rear rim on Nomu Lab Wheel #5

Another wheel day (and so on...).

A customer brought in the rear wheel of a Nomu Lab Wheel #5.
It's been about 5 years since it was built,
and we did a truing about 2 months ago,
at which time we also repaired a problem inside the rear hub.

But it came in today with a serious amount of runout.
If runout develops this quickly,
it's usually due to localized nipple loosening or something like that...

↑Looking at the nipple area on the left side of the image,
the rim appears dented,

and from there toward the valve hole,
the rim side is oddly crumpled and deformed.

Looks like someone stepped on it and crumpled it!
The customer has no recollection of it,
but regardless of whether they remember or not, there's clear evidence of rim deformation,
so replacement was necessary.
I'm certain this damage wasn't there at the time of the truing 2 months ago.

Rim relocation in progress...
I moved all the spokes from one flange
to the replacement rim in the reverse direction,
so there's only this much gap between the two rims.

All built up.
We replaced not just the rim but the red aluminum nipples as well.
