The Shimano road-use finned resin brake pads
L05A that we've been selling at our shop's popular
loss-leader panda pricing — the bulk 25-pair pack —
we've been individually bagging them using
our special double-security method (→here),
but the price has increased quite a bit.
The price hike didn't happen recently,
but we just restocked now that our inventory had run out.
The old 25-pair tax-included list price was ¥47,034,
but the current price is ¥60,050 —
a 27.7% increase. I figured this couldn't be a single price hike,
so I looked into it and found that on January 1st, 2024,
there was a price adjustment of exactly 27.7%. Yikes~
The single-pair boxed version also went up at the same time,
from ¥2,922 to ¥3,214, a 20.4% increase,
so the percentage hike is higher on the 25-pair pack,
but the per-pair unit cost is ¥1,811 → ¥2,402,
so the bagged-sale version is still cheaper overall.
Oh, just to clarify — our loss-leader panda price isn't ¥2,402,
it's ¥2,402 × 0.(self-censored) just to be safe.
