This is a follow-up on the Nomu Lab Wheel No. 5
where a customer left two pairs of front and rear wheels with me a while back
(→here).
For the wheel that got caught in a groove and sustained a large scratch on the front brake zone,
I fixed the front wheel with a rim replacement and the rear wheel with truing.

This front wheel had its rim bent into a potato chip shape
after getting hit by a motorcycle from the side in an accident.

I completely released the spoke tension on the original wheel,
and even though the spokes still pass through,
I got the rim into a state where its shape
is completely unaffected by spoke tension.
When I lay a new rim on top of it,
if I align the rims perfectly at one angle,
a large gap appears at the opposite angle.

In the image above, what's bent isn't the new rim on top
but rather the rim of the wheel below.

With the spoke tension completely released,
the spokes sag in a circular arc, and the hub drops down under its own weight.

Moving the rim to its new home...
