Thou Shalt Not Finish Thy Drink

The title is borrowed from phrasing that
seems to appear in the Gospel of Matthew.

Yesterday (Saturday) I took an unexpected day off
and I apologize for that.
There was a 300km brevet starting at 21:30 on Saturday,
and if I worked until 20:00 and then participated without sleeping
I felt like I might actually die, so I took the day off.

At an average of about 20km/h, if I could finish in 15 hours
I figured I'd be done by 12:30 today (Sunday)
so I got some sleep Saturday evening in preparation.

For the brevet, at the strong insistence of my riding partner,
we took three detours off the official route:
"go to Yamaoka-ya," "buy bread at a certain bakery,"
and "see cherry blossoms at a certain spot"
but the bakery had a huge line (one hour wait)
so we gave up on that.

↑Around 3 AM, at Yamaoka-ya in Shiga Prefecture.
Because it's open 24 hours, for that time of night
it was quite crowded with customers.
Yamaoka-ya barely has any locations in the Kansai region—
3 stores in Hyogo Prefecture, 2 in Wakayama Prefecture,
and only 1 in Shiga Prefecture,
with not a single one in Osaka or Kyoto.
So it's easy to figure out which location it is.

I couldn't finish the broth.
I chose "normal" for the amount of oil,
but as you can see in the image,
there was still a thin film of oil covering the soup,
and well, this part is partly my own fault—
I added garlic paste from the table
with a heaping two spoonfuls plus one more for good measure,
so the noodles and toppings coated in it
had real punch and tasted great, but
the soup flavor became way too concentrated.

↑Stopping at the ramen shop and coming in
under 15 hours was pretty decent.
