Wheels again today (and so on).
Continuing from yesterday.
I built the front wheel for Nomu Lab Wheel No. 5.
R45 hub, 20H, CX-RAY outpoke radial laced
with iridescent (VAS) nipples.
The rear hub I received was used,
but the front hub was brand new.
The rear hub shell had
scratch marks gouged by spoke threads.
Chris King hub flange holes are
small enough that a #13 (2.3mm) round won't pass through,
and even CX-RAY spokes with a nominal width of 2.2mm
are tight enough that they don't just drop through
under their own weight.
So when I disassemble the wheel
and pull the spokes out,
if I yank hard on a spoke that won't come out smoothly,
the edge of the spoke's threaded end
can gouge the hub shell,
and on a Chris King hub especially,
those scratches really show.
