I wrote an article before about a CatEye Uno (model HL-EL010) that I painted to match the color of my homemade front fender (at least I tried to) (→here), but I've been bothered for a while now by how rough the yellow-green color matching on the main body turned out.

For the flower part, I applied masking tape in various sizes—circles and ovals. I decided it would be impossible for me to mask exactly along that outline again,

so I applied masking tape the same way, making it clearly larger than the outline of the flower petals,

and after masking the center part as well, I decided to paint it with a yellow-green color mixed to be closer to the original.

↑Looks like this. I think I've managed to fake it pretty well.

↑Side by side, it looks like this. No matter what I add one drop of to the paint palette, I've reached the limit of how close I can get—I think it'll just drift further away. This is about where my abilities max out.
I mixed a decent amount of this yellow-green color in a small paint bottle.
The clear coat I apply at the end has a gloss finish, but if I switched to matte or satin, the shine would probably get a bit closer too.
This isn't a plastic model, but with plastic models, there's always some flaw that only the builder knows about, and it becomes something to work on next time around.
This yellow-green color was bothering me enough that I wanted to give it one last shot at a correction, so I gave it a try.
