Nomu Lab Wheel

Built Nomu Lab Wheel No. 5 with a 7400 Hub

Another wheel day (and so on).

A customer entrusted me with a 7400 Dura-Ace hub.
Both front and rear are 32H.
They wanted me to build it with an XR200,
so this becomes Nomu Lab Wheel No. 5.

Regarding the lacing pattern, the rear wheel is left to my discretion, so I'll do a half-comp 48-spoke lacing.
If that won't work, I'll do 46-spoke lacing and add spoke ties on the non-freehub side.
For the front wheel, they want inpoke radial ○○ lacing.
I'm censoring that because this hub is NG for radial ○○ lacing.
It's the customer's request and I don't think there's really any problem with it,
but if I get comments like "the 7400 hub should be NG for radial ○○ lacing..."
I'm honestly going to find that annoying, so I'm mentioning it upfront.
This is what you call "nitpicking the nitpickers"—got it?
↑Ugh, what's with this guy, he's got a real attitude problem

The rear hub's locknut-to-locknut dimension measured 130.4mm, but
since this is a product from the transition period between 126mm and 130mm dropouts,
I'm rounding the edge of the left locknut and assuming it might need to be spread slightly to fit into a narrower steel frame.

I managed to do the 48-spoke lacing.
The spokes are half-comp.

Red nipples are per the customer's request.

Front wheel is built.
I can't photograph the hub area.

The rim is bathed in a halo of light and looks almost divine.
"Just as the polar ice sheets will eventually break apart,
there is nothing in this world that remains unchanged..."
↑Nice try with the sermon,
but that's just global warming.
Plus, there are no penguins at the North Pole anyway.

As you can see, you'll just end up getting your own nitpicks nitpicked,
so you'd better stop.
