I'll split this up since it would be too long to add as a note.
Wako's (Japanese automotive care brand) makes a coating product called "Various Coat," and someone commented asking if it can be used together with carnauba wax.
That's a good question (feet trembling).
I'm not sure if they're technically compatible, but I use them together anyway.
I didn't mention it in yesterday's post, but the slick, smooth feel when you touch the frame is more due to the Various Coat than anything else.
Update: Someone asked whether the Various Coat's cleaning effect would wash away the carnauba wax, but I think it's probably fine.
Carnauba wax's main components are carnauba wax and petroleum-based solvents, with the solvents evaporating and leaving the wax behind.
I don't get the sense that Various Coat is wiping away the wax, so I think they can be used together, but I'd recommend avoiding it right after applying the wax.

One more thing from the comments.
I said I'd removed most of the small scratches on the frame through washing and "other methods," and someone asked me to explain what that "other" part was.
Unfortunately, that's trade secrets, so I can't go into detail. Sorry about that.
I wouldn't call it a patch test exactly, but I've done considerable trial and error with compounds and other products that won't damage the frame to arrive at the best approach.
Also, it's not something that gets clean with just a quick wipe—removing small scratches from the frame and fork takes about as much time as building a wheel.
