DV46 Cross

I received a Reynolds DV46 Cross from a customer.

It's not the usual rear wheel rebuild request for DV46 models.
They wanted me to check for runout and centering,
and also tension the tires — which is the tricky part here.

As you can see from "Cross" in the name, the manufacturer specifies this
as a cyclocross build.
The difference from the road model is in the spokes:

↑The rear wheel freewheel side uses DT Competition, same as the road version,

↑But the rear wheel non-freewheel side and front wheel use DT Revolution spokes.
Where the road version has DT Aero Lite,
it's been replaced with Revolution.
Of course, that doesn't mean it can't be used on a road bike.

So why is tensioning the tires difficult?
Because they want to transition from rim cement to tape.
If cement residue remains on the rim's tire-seating surface, you can't use tape.
So I need to remove it, which is incredibly tedious.

As for why they're switching to tape — the wheel owner's preference (and so on).

Fortunately, the cement bed isn't too thick. I think I can manage it with some effort.

↑These are my own rims in storage, but
if they're this thick, transitioning to tape is practically impossible.

Done.
Even at this level, I thought my fingerprints might disappear.
