During a night ride after the rain, I stopped when I found a vending machine near some rice paddies
and there are often several tree frogs clinging to it.
I'm guessing the insects attracted to the machine's light are what they're after.
Looking closely, the ground around it is covered in frogs too,
so I have to be careful not to step on them.
As small as they are, when they suddenly jump
「Wait!? Jumping like that without even standing up? That kind of leap from their knees alone!?」
I'm always amazed.
Sometimes one sits enthroned right on the button,
but apparently if you undergo special training, you can press the button
frog and all and still buy your drink without harming the frog.
Supposedly「memeta」is the sound it makes at that moment,
but I'm not skilled enough to attempt it, so I've never heard it myself.
