I Built the Front Wheel for Nomu Lab Wheel #4

Today it's wheels again (and so on).

I deliberately chose a 24H old Evo hub for the hub.
The spec suddenly switched to an Evo Lite hub, so this became leftover stock.
I'm using CX-RAY spokes in a radial lacing pattern.

The Evo Lite front hub is about 25g lighter than the old Evo front hub,
but the weight savings from the flange drilling, which catches the eye in the Evo Lite hub's design,
are actually quite minimal.
If we ignore the density difference between aluminum alloy and pure aluminum,
drilling out a volume equivalent to one yen coin would save about 1g,
but even if you add up all the drilled portions of the Evo Lite hub,
it barely reaches the volume of a single yen coin.
The major factors in weight reduction are the smaller bearings
and the smaller diameter of the hub shell and shaft.

For the tire, I mounted a Corsa CX Elite that had been gathering dust using rim cement.
When this tire was the latest model,
the standard choice for road bikes was 21C width for tubular and 23C width for clincher,
but nowadays for some reason 2C wider has become the trend for each.

Vittoria and others previously only had the Corsa CX tubular in 21C in all colors,
with 23C and 25C available only in all-black,
but now the full-color model lineup is 23C,
while 21C and 25C are only available in all-black.
This makes me feel like "the recent wider tire boom is being created by the manufacturers"...
Carbon rims are also becoming centered around wider models due to concerns about buckling.
There may be some harmony with that as well.
(With ZIPP Firecrest and SMART ENVE,
aerodynamics is given as the reason,
but since wide rim designs are increasing even on models without exceptionally high rims,
buckling resistance must be a consideration)

From the mention of tires that had been gathering dust,
and the fact that this article's category isn't "Nomu Lab Wheel,"
you might have already figured it out,
but I should mention—this is my personal bike. Sorry about that.
