I received a couple of WH-9000 C24 and C35 wheels from a customer for work.

Let me start with the C24.
Both wheels had no centering issues, but there was a bit of runout.
The front wheel developed a centering problem when I corrected the runout,
so I had to re-true it completely to get everything dialed in properly.
As a side note, with aluminum spokes like Duraace aluminum or Ksyrium,
the nipple threads have a coarser pitch,
so if you only true one side, it's easy to cause centering problems.
This is definitely something to watch out for.

Now for the C35.
The front wheel had some play in the hub bearing cups, so I fixed that,
but with no runout and no centering issues, I basically just put it on the truing stand to check and we were done.
The rear wheel had almost no runout but was off-center,
with the rim shifted toward the freewheel side, which was actually helpful.
When you're doing truing work that also needs centering correction, it might actually be easier to fix when the center is off than when it's already centered.
In the end, only the C35 rear wheel had a centering issue,
but based on the customer's history,
the C24 was almost certainly never inspected by that shop,
while the C35 came from a domestic shop's online store where the customer paid "an extra 1,000 yen for inspection,"
yet somehow the C35 ended up with sloppier final adjustments.
