Racing Zero

A customer brought in a Racing Zero for repair.

They wanted the front wheel spoke breakage repaired.

On the same flange side as the broken spoke,
the adjacent spoke is bent clockwise.
You can barely tell from the image at the top.

Here it is.

Separately from that, there was also a spoke bent near the nipple.

DSC06746amx5.jpg
The nipple here was cracked too, so I'll replace it.

DSC06749amx5.jpg
I thought it would be just these 3 spokes that needed replacement, but
DSC06750amx5.jpg
there was a spoke that's twisted near the nipple, and
DSC06751amx5.jpg
it also had warping, so this one needs replacing too.
So it's 4 spokes total.

It's been quite a while since you brought it in,
but the shortage isn't spoke inventory—it's working time.
I'm truly sorry.

DSC06748amx5.jpg
It's fixed.

DSC06747amx5.jpg
I also did a hub overhaul.
Just cleaning and greasing—no parts were replaced.

DSC06754amx5.jpg
I also have the rear wheel in, so I did that too while I was at it.

DSC06755amx5.jpg
The freewheel pawl return spring wasn't bent.

The rear wheel barely had any runout, but
DSC06756amx5.jpg
↑there was a dent in the rim's bead hook, so
DSC06758amx5.jpg
I corrected it.
I forgot to mark the rim, but
since the hub sticker's phase shown in the back is the same,
you can tell it's the same spot.
