A customer entrusted me with a Rovalレ CLX32 for servicing.

Brand new.
They brought it straight to the shop for inspection after buying it.
Both wheels are perfectly centered with virtually no runout at all.

Finally they got it.
In the earlier Rovalレ models, even with fairly high rims,
they stubbornly insisted on round butted spokes,
and once the threadlocker took hold, truing became extremely difficult.
But they've finally adopted aero spokes.

The same customer also entrusted me with a Rovalレ Alpiniste SL.
There are traces on the brake zone where Swissstop Yellow King brake pads were once used,
and the rim is slightly deformed from heat damage, but it's just barely still usable.
Since they've now switched to Black Prince brake pads,
as long as they don't ride down a mountain pass with the brakes constantly on,
I don't think the heat damage will get any worse.
If I treated the bumps from heat damage as fine lateral runout,
it would be impossible to true completely, so I compromised on the acceptable tolerance.
There's no lateral runout that causes pad rub outside of braking.
Since this model is from before Rovalレ adopted round spokes across all rim heights,
this one also has aero spokes.

It's ALPINISTE, not ALPINIST—
a remnant of its origins as a French brand.
