Built Nomu Lab Wheel No. 6.
Front wheel: Leaf hub 20H black CX-RAY outpoke radial lacing,
Rear wheel: Leaf hub 24H black half-comp 2-cross lacing with wire cross-connections.
While I was building the rear wheel, a customer who came from Tokyo
—owner of the original Nomu Lab Wheel No. 1 who builds wheels himself—
was watching the whole process. I think I could have shown him
something a bit more interesting if it had been an aluminum rim build.
Though I deliberately made it this way.
For the lightest tires possible,
I mounted TUFO's "Elite Jet under 160 grams"
as my choice.
There are even lighter tires out there,
but when you're trying to avoid the risk of losing a race to a flat
while still going with something reasonably light,
I think this is about the sweet spot.
If you think about tire tread pattern logically, it should be reverse label
(left label), so that's how I installed it.
Recommended pressure is 10–15 bar.
There's a theory that Americans' obsession with psi
comes from triskaidekaphobia—
not wanting to put in the unlucky 13 bar—
(citation needed) (by whom?),
but that's just something I came up with myself.
The real reason is that psi stands for pounds-force per square inch,
and the "p" is for pounds—in other words, it's the imperial system.
