Taking a Day Off

Tomorrow, July 27th (Thursday),
I'll be taking the day off due to unavoidable business.
I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

I just stocked up on Sato Seiyaku Top Ten (energy supplement by Sato Pharmaceutical).
Mainly for my own use.
The elephant character Sato-chan appears to the left of the Sato Seiyaku (katakana) label on this package,
so it's definitely from the same company as Satoh Pharmaceutical (kanji version),
but no matter how much I search their homepage, this product doesn't appear.
It's not listed under nutritional drinks, nutritional supplements & vitamins, nutritional functional foods & health foods,
or any other category.
Even a general search doesn't turn it up.

Either the distribution channel is different or it's just not commonly seen in pharmacies,
so it's not very famous, but if you use it for the right purpose and it suits your taste,
this can be a highly effective endurance fuel.
In short, it's a 150g cola-flavored maltose syrup containing 382.5 kcal.
With glucose, maltose, and dextrin working at different rates over 2-3 hours, it's extremely effective for endurance sports.

In fact, during long training sessions with decent intensity mixed in,
compared to when I'm not using it, I clearly feel less hunger (personal observation though).

You can also dissolve it in water or sports drink in your bottle, but
I don't do that much. Apparently it's also good dissolved in tea.

I recommend two ways to use it: taking a quick dose during practice while waiting at a red light and then drinking a sip of water from your bottle, or drinking an appropriate amount right before a race.
