There are clearly 4 bent spokes, and as for the ones that are just scratched—unless the customer requests otherwise, our policy is not to replace them. So I started the repair, but the rim feels like it's warped like a potato chip. In situations like this, sometimes the quick call is to throw in the towel and say "sorry, this can't be fixed," but this time I decided to give it one last shot. I replaced the 4 spokes with new ones and attempted to true the wheel, but as expected, it didn't work. When I quoted the price for a replacement rim, the customer said "never mind, let's skip the repair," but this kind of thing happens sometimes.
Still, I want you to know that I'm not throwing in the towel on things that could actually be fixed with enough effort. If I were to carefully disassemble this rim, I'm confident that even just laying it on the floor—let alone on a glass optical flat—would reveal warping.
