Racing Zero

A customer brought in the rear wheel from a Racing Zero for repair.

One spoke was bent.
The cause is clear—right after transporting the bike, there was noticeable lateral runout in one spot that wasn't there before, so that's definitely what did it. That said, even with a bike bag from Scicon (the standard for international travel), it couldn't be prevented, so there's not much you can do about it.

Though apparently, when they were loading it at the airport, they saw it being placed sideways, so the customer asked them to stop, and they said "we can't fit it any other way."

So it took a direct lateral impact. The spoke bent so cleanly that you can't even feel the deformation when you run your fingers along it front-to-back. Not to sound strange, but it's a very clean bend. With a crash, even if the force comes mainly from the side, there's usually some front-to-back bending too.

It's fixed.
