I built a rear wheel with a FLO carbon rim.

It's a 95mm tall WO rim.

The reason the sticker on the rim's side looks like the stars and stripes is unclear.
I've built a rear wheel with a FLO brand 95mm tall WO rim before (→here),
but that one was a rim with carbon layered over an Equinox WH239
low-height aluminum rim.

This time the rim is a WH253—a full carbon WO rim.

It's an Equinox-made rim, but
there's a notice stating you must use only FLO's dedicated brake pads,
and contact FLO about replacement parts.

In the case of Tni rims,
the image above is the rim label from my Nomura Lab Wheels No. 2,
but it doesn't say to use Tni brake shoes.
It says to use Equinox shoes.
So this FLO rim isn't just a stock OEM rim with a sticker slapped on—
it means FLO has some custom-ordered elements
somewhere on the rim itself.
As another example of an Equinox-made rim where the brake shoe specification
isn't Equinox but rather the OEM client's brand name,
there's Gokiso... but
I just found out that I've built a rear wheel with a WH253 rim before,
and there's even an article where I wrote almost the same thing (→here).
While I'm at it, I should mention that even with Gokiso rims,
some very old ones have labels telling you to use Equinox shoes (→here).

The previous WH253 rim was 24H, so
I laced it semi-leader 46-cross with trailing,
but this time it's a Circus Monkey 20H hub
semi-strong 44-cross with trailing.
Since I can't do 46-cross, I increased the spoke weight ratio difference between left and right sides.
Though as mentioned in the previous article,
the spoke weight difference between strong and 14-gauge plain spokes
like leader or champion isn't that large.
The "20F" marked on the rim's outer perimeter label
means 20H with front rim specs.
The Nomura Lab Wheels No. 3 80mm tall rim also comes in 20F and 24R versions,
and given the rim height, even building a rear wheel with 20F provides sufficient rigidity.
With a 95mm tall rim, that's even more true.
