I replaced the rear rim on a first-generation Racing Zero

Another wheel day (and so on).

A customer left me the rear wheel of a first-generation Racing Zero.
The strictly original first-generation Racing Zero in terms of color spec
has rim/spokes/hub body in red/red/red,
but this one is from the next generation
and is identical to the first generation except the colors are black/red/black.

The bead hook is gone from buckling.
Both left and right are deformed, so it looks like
they hit something pretty hard — WHAM!

As for the spare rim,
the rim hole diameter and other specs differ from the Racing 1 of the same era
= unique to the Racing Zero
= the rim is not shared with the Racing 1,
so the rim sticker was already on it from the start.

This era has evenly spaced rim holes,
but there's a right-left-right hole offset pattern, so left and right are distinguishable.
The directionality of the hole offset is so strong you can't mix up left and right.

I disassembled the wheel carefully.
All 21 spokes were reusable.
I wish painful death upon any bike shop employee who's ever told a customer
that a complete spoke replacement is mandatory when doing a rim swap on a Racing Zero or Shamal Ultra.

Even if not all spokes need replacing, it's certainly possible to find
a few bent spokes that need replacement mixed in.
But if it's just that level, I have spare spokes in stock to handle it.

I cleaned the spokes.

I also did a hub overhaul,
and the ratchet pawl engagement felt pretty soft,
so I checked it and found it was quite deformed.
Of course I replaced it.

Built it up.
With tied/twisted spokes, be careful — where you place the tension gauge
(closer to the hub or closer to the rim) makes a big difference
in the first spoke tension reading.

I also replaced the outer bearing on the freehub body.

This area gets properly cleaned only during a rim swap.
