Another day of wheel building (and so on).

A customer brought me a Cannondale Hooligan (small-wheeled bike) front wheel to build, along with a front hub for a Lefty fork.

The hub alone wouldn't let me remove this cover, so I did a temporary wheel build. It's the same phenomenon as when you cut spokes with a freewheel or single-speed cog still attached to the rear hub — you can't get it off.

Managed to loosen it somehow. By the way, it's left-hand threaded.

Once the cover comes off...

Then I use an adapter like this one (which has "do not use for actual riding" written on it) for wheel building and truing.

And the wheel comes together. The rim is an ALEXRIMS R390, ETRTO 451mm, 20-inch WO rim, and the customer has painted the brake zone black.

Lefty 6-hole disc hub, 32H, all-black spokes, size 15, 64-spoke reverse Italian pattern, no wire nipples, blue aluminum nipples. The matching rear wheel was built a little while back (→here). The rear wheel was built with a hub we sourced at the shop, completely separate from the original Hooligan wheel. But the front wheel uses the hub we removed from the Hooligan, so without building this one, the customer can't ride the bike. Since it's his everyday bike, I made sure to build this one as quickly as possible after receiving the hub, so the delivery date is different from the rear wheel.
