Regarding the traces from the valve hole expansion the other day,

I received three comments suggesting: "Wasn't that a taper reamer rather than a drill?"
Ah, I see! I hadn't considered that at all.
Looking at the difference in diameter between the two holes and the rough gouging around the edges,
I'm definitely convinced that's what it was.
