Hey there, good evening! It's KANI TUBE!

So today we're doing a lightweight tube showdown!
We've got Maxxis's "Flyweight" and
Continental's "Supersonic"
Let's do a thorough comparison!
The weight is basically the same when you account for individual variation,
so let me dig into the other differences!

First up, the Flyweight.
Reading through the markings on the Maxxis tube in order...

There's a size marking,

and a thickness marking,
but then it continues with
151 (three-digit number)
196 (three-digit number)
32 (two-digit number)
‐ (hyphen)
45 (two-digit number)
A inside a circle
That's the format!
The meaning's unclear, but
it looks like tubes are tracked using this kind of format!

At the base of the valve there's a stamp that says "10"!
If defects like air leaks at the valve base were happening frequently,
I wonder if they stamp the mold with a number like this to identify whether it's coming from the same production batch?

Now for Continental's Supersonic!
At the base of the valve there's a stamp that says "15"!

And then it says Continental Race 28 Supersonic

After the size marking, the "03/19" could mean
manufactured in March 2019, or maybe
made in the 3rd week of 2019!
The markings that follow look
remarkably similar in format to what we saw on the Flyweight earlier,

and among the numbers, 196 and 32 match exactly,
and there's also an A in a circle, which is the same too,

and the "Made in Taiwan" text looks almost identical too!
Wait a second...shouldn't the title of this article
be "=" (equals) instead of
"VS" (versus)?

Huh?
Where did the Flyweight and Supersonic
go?
