These days, it's become common enough to be spec'd onto production bikes,
and road bikes with low gears as big as 34T or
ridiculously large tooth counts (← my bias is already showing here)
have reached a point where you can't say things like
"for a guy" or "that's something you'd do on an MTB,
nobody would have given you a second look
if you'd done that on a road bike 10 or 20 years ago"
or "I never raised you to choose a gear ratio like that!"
An atmosphere has already formed where such comments shouldn't be made.
So no matter what you might think deep down,
when you see someone with a large-toothed low gear,
it's better not to say anything negative about it.
The times have changed.
