Another day with wheels (and so on).

A customer brought in the front wheel of their Nomu Lab Wheel No. 5.
It's not catastrophically bad or anything,
but the brake zone has worn smooth in a circular pattern,
so they're requesting replacement while it's still a bit early.
Better safe than sorry — good thinking.
My own front wheel built with Neutron Ultra rims
is getting close to replacement time too
(might actually be worse than this No. 5),
and I've managed to keep just one more spare 22H rim in stock,
even though it's discontinued.
Because I only brake on the front
and I'm reckless enough to ride in the rain,
I'd say my rim brake front wheels wear out faster than average.
But lately I've built myself a disc-brake road bike — or gravel bike frame, really —
and going forward, unless I get caught in the rain while I'm out,
if it's already raining when I'm leaving,
I'll ride that instead.
I'm planning to write a review full of curses about it later,
but anyway, thanks to that rain-duty disc brake bike,
I'm hoping my last Neutron front wheel
will last longer than the current rim.

CX-RAY 4.4 Italian lacing.

There are reflectors on the spokes,
and the lettering is reversed here, but

on this side it's facing the right way,
so when the rim is open before it snaps shut,
the lettering is mirror-symmetrical.

Rim relocation in progress...

Wheel is built.

The aluminum nipples are basically silver,
with red on both sides of the valve hole,

and gold on both sides of the rim seam on the opposite side —
same pattern as before the rebuild,
but I've replaced all the nipples with new ones.
