The front wheel is 4-cross lacing at the customer's request.

With this particular hub and rim combination—
in a 20H 4-cross lace, the outpoke that crosses with the inpoke at the final crossing isn't the one you'd expect. Instead, the outpoke running in the opposite direction to the inpoke's tension (in this case, the one clockwise adjacent) lines up so neatly with the inpoke that they almost appear as a single straight line.
If you isolate just that section, it's almost a perfect five-pointed star, which means these spokes are running in nearly tangential direction.
Since this is a front wheel with no chain drive and hub-side brakes, there's no real point in discussing spoke drive efficiency. But if this were a rear wheel with a TB-25 rim and 20H—
4-cross would actually be the configuration where the spoke direction and its tangential direction are most closely aligned. You'd never see a hub with such a small flange on the freewheel side, but from a geometry standpoint, that little five-pointed star thing caught my eye, so I thought I'd write about it.
