But first, something completely unrelated.
Yesterday, I repaired a Vittoria complete wheel that had a spoke break (fracture at the rim's thread start) by replacing the spoke,
but the customer said that the shop where they first brought it in told them
"repair is difficult, so why not just buy a new wheel?"
It's true that Vittoria wheels have a somewhat complicated spoke replacement procedure,
so refusing isn't entirely unreasonable either,
but the reason the customer first brought it to that shop was
"because that's where they bought the wheel."
Once you look at it that way, the situation changes.
The repair isn't impossible,
and in fact, I've already fixed it on the spot when the customer brought it in,
without even needing to leave it with us.
I'm not personally acquainted with the owner of that shop,
but they should know who I am
(I've heard through the grapevine that
I'm apparently the target of some resentment),
so when they find out the Vittoria wheel was repaired, they might write something nasty,
which is why I'm anxious and checking this blog—so I'll just say it here.
How pathetic. Drop dead.

Continuing from yesterday.
I built the front wheel for Nomu Lab Wheel #5 using a 965-series "domestic" XTR quick hub.
HB-M965 32H, all CX-RAY 64-spoke reverse Italian lacing with
rainbow-colored (VAS) pattern nipples.
I'll do the lacing later.
I chose all CX-RAY instead of half CX Sprint because
I had various reasons for doing so.
It wasn't because we didn't have the length.
The 4-spoke set on the left side is 280mm or longer, so
it's not that we can't get them.
Per the customer's request, I'm using silver spokes,
but if I'd used black spokes, the price difference with CX-RAY would be quite large
(per spoke: silver ¥90 difference, black ¥270 difference)
so I might not have gone with all CX-RAY.
If this were 24H instead of 32H,
I would have gone with the half CX Sprint.
