Roval Rapide CLX

A customer brought in the front wheel from a Roval Rapide CLX for repair.

This isn't the version II that came out as a minor update later,
so it's a tubeless-incompatible rim.

A spoke has broken.
This one's a DT Aero Light, but
Sapim CX spokes have the same spoke weight,
and these types of spokes often break
at the threaded section on the rim side.
Having it break at the neck like this, and on a straight spoke too,
is pretty unusual.

I asked the customer, "Isn't there a Specialized shop nearby?"
and they said "There is."
I didn't ask this part, but
if I had asked, "Isn't there a shop nearby that can properly repair this wheel?"
the answer would probably be "No."

In the wheel bag were spare spokes for both sides,
one of each inserted into cardboard, and
they measured 242mm and 248mm.
This spoke is 252mm.
So I told the customer, "These spokes are for rear wheel repairs,
so the spare spokes for the front wheel should be
in the wheel bag that has the rear wheel in it,"
and they said they had it in the car.
When I checked, there was indeed a spare spoke for the front wheel.
Even if there hadn't been, I could still have fixed it.

After replacing the spoke and truing that section,
the center was already good.
The hub bearing rotation was rough,
so I replaced the bearings.

All fixed.
