Another day, another wheel (and so on).

A customer dropped off both front and rear wheels from a Nomu Lab Wheel #8 (custom Japanese wheelset).
Today I'm working on the front wheel, but both wheels have bent rims, so replacement is necessary.
Just to be clear upfront: I'm not angry.

The nipples are purple, but since this is a wheel I supply under certain circumstances,
I'm the one who decided on the nipple color.
I told the customer that if they didn't like the purple, I could change them to a different color while doing this work,
but they said they'd prefer to keep them purple.

The spokes are half-comp despite this being a front wheel, but
when I rebuild it, I'll upgrade them to half CX Sprint spokes.
I'll reuse the laced CX-RAY as-is.

Wheels I build are difficult for anyone else to true without leaving marks on the nipples
(without leaving evidence they've been touched).
In this case, the rim is completely bent, so it can't be fixed with simple truing adjustments anyway,
but regardless—don't turn the nipples unless you're confident you can fix it.
By the way, I'm not angry at all about this.

Once I completely removed all spoke tension from the original wheel
and laid it against the new rim,

you can see just how much the original rim is bent.

All I'm reusing is the original hub and
the one laced side of the CX-RAY.
I replaced all the purple nipples with new ones.

Done building.

I've upgraded from black half-comp to black half CX Sprint spokes.
