Nomu Lab Wheel

Replaced the front rim on Nomu Lab Wheel #5

Another wheel day (and so on).

A customer brought in the front wheel of Nomu Lab Wheel #5.
They were riding on the street-side portion of the sidewalk when
their right brake lever caught on a support post on the right,
and in the next instant the wheel's side smashed into the post
as it wrapped around it.

There was damage to the rim sidewall,
and the tire sidewall was also scraped at the same time,
though not to the extent of a sidewall cut.

When I put it on the truing stand, the rim was clearly bent,
and I was immediately certain it needed replacement.

There was one spoke that was clearly bent,

and the post's paint coating was stuck to the spoke.

The paint coating was also on the adjacent spoke on the same side,
so I initially determined those two spokes needed replacement,
but when I transferred the rim,
I discovered that a third spoke also needed replacing.

↑The replaced spokes
When I fixed the threaded end with tape,
the head end would pop up—
the spokes are deformed laterally to that extent.
In the image from top, they're in the order they wrapped
around the post based on the wheel's rotation direction.

↑The top one is especially deformed.
In the wheel's original state,
this was the only spoke
showing obvious deformation.
