Another day working on wheels (et cetera).

A customer brought in the front wheel from a Racing Zero Night (wheel model).

The missing spoke was removed just for inspection purposes.

The bead hook on the rim had been deformed by buckling, and
although I attempted to straighten it,
it didn't work out, so we decided to replace the rim.

↑I've marked the buckled area with tape.
The outline on the lower part of the image shows where I attempted to straighten it,
but it wouldn't come completely straight.

While disassembling the wheel, I noticed
in a different location from the buckling that there were
scuff marks as if the rim had rubbed against the grating grooves.

The relationship between the hub and spoke head
is like a jigsaw puzzle "catch," so
if you loosen the spoke tension somewhat,
you can remove the spokes from the hub.
The sticker on the hub barrel
is not one I applied.

The nipples had ones on the verge of seizing
and ones that were completely frozen.
The image above shows the ones I managed to loosen.

↑Hub removed

Whether by coincidence or for some reason,
five consecutive nipples on the same side were seized.

I assembled the new rim with the original 11 spokes plus
5 new spokes.
The preliminary assembly up to this point took more time than
the actual truing work on the truing stand.

All done.
For this rim, the sticker is sold separately,
but the customer said they're fine without it.
