Stan's Rim Tape Packaging "and More" Has Been Redesigned

Stan's rim tape has been completely redesigned in packaging "and other things."
Previously it came in very basic vinyl bags, but

With the new packaging, if you cut straight across from this notch with scissors, it will then become a ziplock case...
just kidding — it's simply designed so you can't return it to an unopened state once opened.
It's the same as LAN cable bags.

With this redesign,
the length has changed from yards to meters.
Specifically, what was 10yd and 60yd rolls
are now 10m and 50m rolls.
The price remains the same, so effectively...
that's a price increase!

60yd roll version.

The core inner diameter is the same on both old and new versions,

RIMG2877amx16.jpg
but the outer diameter is slightly larger on the old version,
which means a direct comparison under the same conditions isn't possible
and the results tend to favor the more exaggerated outcome,

↑It's about this much difference.
Since 60yd = 54.864m,
and with single-wrap application where the beginning and end portions double up,
on a 700C rim there's a difference of about two rim's worth.

Stan's tubeless tape comes in different widths with different prices,
and comparing the 25mm width at the official retail price including tax,
the old 10yd was 2,500 yen, and calculating at that unit price for 10m would be
2,734 yen,
but the new 10m's official retail price including tax is 2,530 yen,
so this is actually a unit price reduction.
Writing out the cost per meter:
Old 60yd: 180.44 yen
New 50m: 198 yen
Old 10yd: 273.4 yen
New 10m: 253 yen
So the volume discount doesn't exceed the conversion difference,
and while it might be acceptable for home use, for professional use
there's no reason to buy the 10m rolls.
Though I did end up buying 10yd rolls when the 60yd rolls were on long-term backorder!
