The drill is screaming!

A customer brought in a Fuji gravel bike,
a complete Jari model.
One of the three bottle cage holes on the down tube had a broken bolt
stuck in the threaded hole
at the bottom.

The customer's acquaintance
had already drilled out the hole somewhat,
threaded through the remaining bolt,
and cut an M3 thread with a tap.
Pretty skillful work, I'd say.

This protrusion isn't a rivet nut
that was installed and then painted over—
it's actually a formed piece that's
part of the frame material itself.
So I decided to handle it with a helicoil insert.

I drilled a through-hole with a 5.2mm drill bit
for the helicoil's pilot hole,
then tapped it with the helicoil tap.

I installed the helicoil insert.
Once the bolt is fitted,
you can't tell from the outside that the threads were repaired.
