The Niner frame I ride has
the company's slogan
"pedal damn it" written on the front of the top tube.


On the top cap above the stem,
you can snap any beer bottle cap onto
the YAWYD (※) top cap,
and I'm using the bottle cap from
Goose Island IPA—and I mean the
India Pale Ale kind of IPA, not
isopropyl alcohol—here.

※YAWYD is an acronym for "You Are What You Drink,"
which is a play on the saying
"You are what you eat."

This is an accessory that comes with
Niner frames, but


it's also available as a standalone item.
It was out of stock at the distributor for at least two years,
but I noticed it recently came back in stock, so I placed an order.
The retail price is 2,900 yen including tax.


Like a normal top cap,
after applying pressure to the headset,
you simply snap your favorite bottle cap into place.


↑The top cap is shaped just like
the mouth of a beer bottle,
so bottle caps can be installed on it.


I've been collecting animal-themed bottle caps
to use here.

So you don't have to buy from our shop—
if you want one, try getting it from your local bike shop!
Any shop that carries Continental tires
also carries Niner, so you should be able to get one!
That's what I was planning to write, but
when I checked the distributor's inventory just now, it was completely sold out.
It was in stock just a few days ago...
Just to be clear, our shop didn't buy them all up.
The timing of the next restock is unknown.
Please don't make it another two years...


About how to remove bottle caps cleanly.
The image above shows a Minoh Beer bottle and cap, but


if you use a bottle opener normally,
the cap gets creased.


So if you fold paper towels multiple times
to make a thick pad, sandwich it between
the cap and the bottle opener, and instead of
prying at one spot, apply light pressure while
changing where you place the opener,
lifting the cap gradually and carefully—


you can recover the bottle cap in pristine condition.
