I remade the front fender bracket for my Niner

This is a continuation from my previous post.

I've been using a homemade
front fender (→here)
that works with my Niner RDO fork
only when running tires near the minimum installable size.
The fork crown has an M6 hole, but

on the Deda (Italian fork brand) GERA fork
that threaded hole here is M5.

I removed the fender.

↑I was using an M6 bolt to hook the bracket here,
then securing the bolt,
but when trying the same thing with an M5 bolt,
even with a washer and grease applied,
the hooked part would slip right up and out.
So I decided to remake the bracket section.

↑In the original version, I filed a stainless steel bracket
to fit into the slot on this part, so

RIMG9396amx16.jpg
rust has developed.
I'll make the new bracket so I don't have to file this part.

↑This is a photo from when I made something similar for a different project.
For M5 bolts, I pass the bolt through first, then

RIMG8048amxy15.jpg
crush it like this.

This is what I made today—
I did the same machining and cut off one side of the bracket
to make it a single-sided cantilever.

↑Shaped so the M5 bolt passes through perfectly

I've renewed the bracket section.

↑I didn't machine the width of the bracket.

This side is also crushed for M5 bolts, and

RIMG9404amx16.jpg
I shaped the aluminum base to match the curve of the bracket,
so when I loosen the bolt for angle adjustment,
there's almost no play in the up-down and front-back directions
other than the rotational direction of the bracket.

RIMG9405amx16.jpg
I bent the bracket to roughly center it.
After that, I mounted it on the fork crown
and made fine adjustments.

↑Looks like this.
With this installed, water spray to my face in wet conditions
is greatly reduced, so
I can't imagine riding without it anymore.

The bracket bend will make some difference,
but currently with 28C tires it looks like this,
so similar to the Niner setup,
it should work with tires up to around 30C knobless.
