Last week, in addition to our regular closed days on Wednesday and Thursday, plus the last Saturday of the month,
I took Tuesday and Friday off as well
to give myself a 5-day break,
and one reason for that was moving house.

And this is what turned up during the move—
a 6770 series Di2 Ultegra
cable, junction, and
battery holder set in
a somewhat rare early production run box.

With the first electronic groupset,
the 7970 series Dura-Ace,
fixed-length cables came out
from the junction below the bottom bracket,
and since frames designed for electronic groupsets
didn't exist yet on the market,
excess cable length was
coiled and bundled below the BB.
But when the 6770 series Ultegra came out later,
it switched to a system where you could insert
EW-SD50 cables of any length
into the junction.

The junction comes in two types—
external (below BB) and internal routing,
but the seatpost battery,
which is the internal battery version,
hadn't been released yet.
So how can I say with certainty
this is an early production box?

Because the spelling on the box reads
ERECTRIC (erectile)
instead of ELECTRIC (electric).
Well, if it really were meant to say "erectile,"
the spelling would be ERECTILE, not ERECTRIC anyway

This typo was corrected immediately,
so boxes with the misspelling exist only in the earliest production run.
The image on the left shows
a cutout of the box before and after the correction,
but I was shocked to find a complete box
in this condition.
