97 Spokes / 97 Nipples Remaining...

I recently repaired the front wheel that pairs with the rear wheel I wrote about before (→here).

It was built with DT Competition spokes (14-gauge base),
but these days the DT distributor
only carries 14-gauge base Competition spokes,
so I had no choice but to source
Sapim Race spokes (15-gauge base) instead.

The nipples are DT turquoise-colored 15-gauge ones.

Both come in wholesale units of 100 spokes / 100 nipples,
but I honestly can't imagine any scenario
where I'd use up the remaining 97 spokes / 97 nipples.
If they were 14-gauge, I'd have plenty of opportunities to use them.
Of course, I only charge the customer for what I actually used,
so this job alone ends up in the red.
But I'm not too bothered by that sort of thing.

I got it centered dead-on.
The original condition is shown in the linked article,
but it was absolute hell to work on.

It's only through this work here at the shop
that this hub and rim assembly
truly becomes a wheel.
Before that, it's nothing but a wheel-like contraption.

↑Only the new spokes shine with that clean silver color.
