Regarding the article from before,
I received an excellent comment saying
that by attaching an appropriate sprocket
to the splines on the freebody,
and using a combination of
a freebody lock tool (a rod with chain)
and an Allen key,
they had removed the freebody
from the RS300 rear hub.
Thank you so much!

Wow, I honestly never thought of that.
The method described in the comment
removes a slightly different part,
but it's similar to removing
an XDR sprocket that's mounted
on an XDR freebody rear hub by itself.

With old boss-type freewheel hubs,
if you cut the spokes
while the boss freewheel is still attached,
the relationship between hub and boss freewheel
is just high-torque threaded engagement,
so there's no way to remove the freewheel from the hub.
If you don't mind damaging the hub shell,
you can clamp it in a vise,
or otherwise, even with the gear attached,
you can only thread spokes through the left flange
in a way that overcomes the twist,
and do a temporary wheel build—
that's the kind of situation I've dealt with in the past.
Because I'm familiar with those workarounds
and have actually done them before,
and because I have an easy setup for making temporary wheels,
I simply didn't think of
the approach you suggested in your comment.
