A customer dropped off a Ksyrium SL (Mavic wheel) with us.

Apparently something's wrong with the rear wheel.
The front wheel is perfectly centered,
and as for lateral runout, there's barely any even if you look for it.
The rear wheel had more runout than the front,
but it's nothing serious.
If this were my wheel,
I'd just leave it alone even if I knew about the runout.
However, the centering was noticeably off.
I didn't ask all the details, but apparently another shop looked at it before.
Ah, so that's why the runout is basically nonexistent.
The center gauge was rattling around so much from the misalignment that
I told the customer, "If you have two or more rear wheels and the others are fine,
you'd notice this level of centering issue just from setting the rear brake"—
and it turned out that's exactly the reason they caught the centering problem
and brought it to us.
With Mavic's nipples of this type, the thread pitch is extremely coarse,
so if you chase runout correction on one side only,
the centering gets knocked out of adjustment easily.
Definitely something to watch out for.
