The drill whines!

A customer left me with a pair of Giro lace-up shoes.

Of the three cleat holes, the rear outer one—
the bottom hole in the image above—had stripped threads,
and the cleat mounting bolt just spins freely without tightening.
I'd seen recent articles about shoe issues,
so I asked if that's why they brought it in.
Apparently not—they'd meant to bring it in back in April when they last visited the shop.
The customer drives here from pretty far away, outside the Kansai region,
and while they were here, I also inspected about eight wheels.
A couple of those have stuff worth writing about,
so I shot photos for articles, but I'll get to those later.

↑Right there.

Yep, it definitely just spins.

I drilled it to 5.2mm → tapped for the helicoil insert → installed the helicoil → then tapped for M5.

I actually installed the cleat and had the customer crank down on the repaired bolt themselves to verify it works.
They were worried, saying "what if it strips again?"
But honestly, if it's going to break, better it breaks right here where I can fix it immediately.
I've cycled through tightening and loosening it multiple times myself,
confirming the helicoil isn't coming loose.
