Another wheel build today (abbreviating the details).

A customer brought in a Velocity "Major Tom" tubular rim for me to work with.
It's based on the company's former "Escape" tubular rim (※) which was 19mm wide,
but it's been redesigned to a 23mm width, the same as the "A23" we built in the shop recently.
※It appears to be discontinued at this point.
On the company's main website, the A23 appears in the Road, Cyclocross, and Track categories,
but the Major Tom only appears in the Cyclocross category.
Of course, it can also be used on road bikes.
What strikes me more is that Road and Track models are only available as WO (clincher) rims.
In fact, the Major Tom is currently the only tubular rim in the current lineup.

The sticker, as usual, has just the maker name on one side
and just the model name on the other. I'll build it with the model name facing right.
It has a blue anodized finish,
and like other Velocity rims, this one also offers optional brake zone machining:
With brake zone machining:
20, 36H in black only
24, 28, 32H in black, red, blue, and polished
Without brake zone machining:
24, 28, 32H in black only
For this build, I've received rims in blue without brake zone machining in both 24H and 28H,
but this specification doesn't appear on the current maker's website.

I mentioned before that Velocity rims tend to have loose tolerances at the seam,
but this rim came from the manufacturer already
smoothed out with filing (or maybe buffing).

The A23 had this same sticker on it,
and while the "spoke tension up to 120 kgf" makes sense,
the instruction to use "Velocity's original rim tape, Velotape, or
rim tape 0.2mm thick or less" doesn't really apply here
since this is a tubular rim and doesn't need rim tape.
Since this is the only tubular model the company makes,
they probably just didn't bother making a separate sticker for it.

Got it built.

T11 hub, 28H, semi-comp 4-cross lacing.
I'll do the lacing ties later.

This hub has ink fill that matches the rim color,
but I'm not sure I've seen this spec before...
