I rebuilt the front wheel on the Reynolds

Another wheel day (and so on).

A customer brought in the front wheel from a Reynolds Stratus DV.

This Reynolds dates from an era when manufacturing methods descended from LEW (Lesmo Extra Wheels) were still in use.
There's reinforcement layered over the valve hole and its opposite phase,
but compared to the original LEW version, the thickness is thinner

It differs from LEW's approach of deliberately concentrating weight at two specific points.

Wow, absolutely beautiful. I hope they continue to use it carefully.
So, regarding what the customer brought it in for:

The rim had buckled and failed. Though I tried smoothing it with sandpaper,
it looked hopeless, so they requested a rim replacement.

Got it built. The rim is what you'd call a Chinese carbon rim that the customer brought in.

Reynolds hub 16H, probably black CX-RAY with radial spoking in the opposite direction.
The original rim used internal nipples, while the new one uses external nipples.
Thanks to the difference in rim height and nipple design, I was able to reuse the spokes with just a slight trim.
If both rims had used internal nipples, spoke reuse would have been impossible.

Per the customer's request, I used gold aluminum nipples.
