Replaced the front wheel rim on the Nomu Lab Wheel #5

I received the front wheel of a Nomu Lab Wheel #5 from a customer.

Novatech 291 hub, 20H, CX-RAY spokes laced Italian 4-cross with
red nipples on both sides of the valve hole, gold nipples on the rim holes across from that,
and silver nipples everywhere else.

Since it's used for brevets, the quick release nuts have been
repurposed as light mounts.

They rode in a brevet yesterday too (apparently attendance was way down due to the typhoon),
and there's some dirt from riding in the rain,
but starting yesterday the front brake feel has been off.
Taking a closer look...

The bead hook is crushed.

Yep, rim replacement needed. Let's get moving on the rim swap!
They came in to buy some discounted Continental tubes, but look what happened!
Well, regardless of why someone comes to our shop, a rim replacement can't be avoided.

I found one spoke bent, so I'm replacing that too.

I'm not reusing the nipples.
I'm replacing them all with new ones in the same pattern and colors as before.

All built up.
I've been doing rim swaps since yesterday, but
the XR200 and XR300 are not particularly weak rims for their weight, just so you know.

That said, a rim like Racing Zero would have better buckling strength,
so there might be a difference in what damage gets caused in these borderline cases—
"would be fine to keep using with Racing Zero but not with XR200 rim"
kind of situations. But even Racing Zero rims do break,
and if that happens, you're looking at nearly 30,000 yen for the rim and labor (at our shop).
With Nomu Lab Wheel #1 and #5, you can fix it for
around 8,000 yen with rim and labor. Glad we went with an affordable rim!
