Rebuilt the F4R front wheel with Nomu Lab Wheel No. 2 rim

Another day with wheels (and so on).

A customer dropped off the front wheel from an FF Yamaguchi F4R.

One spoke flew off during riding,
which would normally be a quick fix on its own, but

The rim hole has burst, so it can't be repaired.

The rim sidewall is also bulged, permanently deformed.
Carbon products are basically like layering fabric over a balloon
(the outermost layer is sometimes a nice patterned material)
and hardening it with corn syrup that doesn't melt at room temperature (then you pop the balloon),
but in this case, that syrup has cracked like glass.

At the customer's suggestion, we decided to rebuild the wheel
using the Nomu Lab Wheel No. 2 (a high-end Japanese wheelbuilder) rim,
but we confirmed in advance that the spoke length couldn't be reused.
The Nomu Lab Wheel No. 2 rim has a lower rim height and uses internal nipples,
both of which are conditions that require longer spokes.
If only the F4R had internal nipples, we might have been able to reuse the spokes,
but that wasn't the case.

In this job, we're switching from FF Yamaguchi to Tni carbon rims, but

in reality, we're going from a WH211 rim to a WH199 rim,
both from the same manufacturer.

The rim width is slightly wider on the F4RWH211.

The WH211 was from 2016 and the WH199 from 2020.
Back in the early days of this blog, I wrote about FF Yamaguchi wheels,
saying the manufacturer's hype wasn't really justified
(on the rear, it's just a normal 24H all CX-RAY 4-cross build,
nothing that stands out from your average hand-built wheel).
I got a scolding comment from someone with strange illusions about the FF Yamaguchi brand.
When I wrote similar cases before (→here),
it caused quite a stir,
but lately everyone seems to have gotten used to it.
This blog is corrupting people's minds.
