Another day of wheel building (and so on).

A customer had left me a WH-7850 rear hub.
It's past tense because I've had it for quite a long time.
They wanted it built with an XR-300 rim.
If I were using straight-gauge silver-butted round spokes, I'd use Sapim Race spokes, which would be relatively straightforward,
but I arbitrarily decided to match the texture of the front wheel,
so it took me quite a while to find usable spokes.
I really wanted to build it with black spokes and red nipples.

Both sides have the spokes pulled in mostly tangential direction, though I did angle them slightly inward.
I changed the spoke diameter between the freewheel side and non-freewheel side—
this was something I really wanted to do.

Because this is an offset flange design, the spokes come out at different positions, so I can't weave them at the crossover.
But as soon as I say that—actually, I could weave them if I wanted to.
I actually tried weaving one spot during the initial build, but it made a squeaking noise, so I decided against it.
It might just squeak because of the spoke tension during the initial build, and once it's properly tensioned... I thought about that, but I can't do anything too experimental.
(Please don't comment that this wheel itself is experimental)
Also, the high-low flange design is worth noting.

It's built.
